Pingstack
Know when a job doesn't run, a site goes down, or a certificate is about to expire.
Go to pingstack.ioSec. 1Why we built it
For over 20 years we've built and run SaaS apps, and every one of them needed monitoring. No single service covered it all, so we usually ran several at once: one for website uptime, another for cron jobs, a dead man's switch for the scripts nobody remembered, and calendar reminders for certificates and domains. Each one had its own alerts, its own bill, and its own blind spots.
Pingstack is the tool we wished we'd had. It watches scheduled jobs, websites, ports, DNS records, certificates, and domains in one place, and it tells whoever is on duty. It grows with an app, from its first cron job to a thousand checks across a large production stack.
We also wanted AI tools to be able to use it. When you build a feature with an AI coding tool, that same tool can set up the feature's monitoring, so new jobs and endpoints get watched from the day they ship.
Fig. 1 A Pingstack dashboard
- Every check's status at a glance
- Checks, dashboards, and alert routing
- Results recorded each day
- Incidents and status updates
Sec. 2How it works
Add your checks
Point Pingstack at a URL, a port, a domain, or a certificate. For cron jobs, your job pings a unique URL when it finishes.
Pick who hears about it
Group people into rosters and choose how each group gets told: email, Slack, Teams, Discord, SMS, or a phone call.
Get on with your day
When a check fails or a job misses its window, Pingstack opens an incident and alerts whoever's on duty.
Sec. 3Spec sheet
- Cron jobs
- Heartbeat checks with a schedule and grace period. Jobs can send a number with each ping, like rows processed, and warn you when it crosses a threshold.
- Websites and APIs
- Checked from up to three regions, every minute on Pro and Team and every 30 seconds on Business.
- SSL certificates
- A warning a set number of days before expiry, so a failed auto-renewal shows up early.
- Domains
- Every domain in one list, with alerts well before a registration lapses.
- DNS records
- Compared across the Cloudflare, Google, and Quad9 resolvers.
- TCP ports
- Know when a database, mail server, or SSH port stops accepting connections.
- Status pages
- Share any dashboard as a public status page. One is free; paid plans can use your own domain.
- AI agents
- An MCP server lets Claude Code or GitHub Copilot create checks and read incidents for you.
Pricing
Free for 15 checks
Every check type is on every plan. Pro is $12 a month, Team is $29, and Business is $79. Pay yearly and you get 2 months free.
